Ford Transit Hi-Roof LWB
We came over from New Zealand and bought this van in February and drove around 12,000 miles over France/Spain/Portugal/Italy/UK for four months. We’ve decided to stay here and find work so now it is time for the van to find a new home. Couple that owned it before us took it on weekend trips to Wales for a few years.
1997 Ford Transit Hi-roof LWB 2.0L Diesel, 5-speed manual
• 180,000 miles (was a commercial delivery van before conversion)
• MOT valid until July 2026.
• Service history: partial (no records prior to conversion, but fully maintained and serviced since 2022). Number plate R589XEV for Gov.uk MOT records.
• Engine & mechanics: banana engine, reliable, runs smoothly, no known issues beyond being a bit squeaky sometimes.
• Bodywork: generally tidy with one large dent just behind drivers door (cosmetic). Issues with some rust erosion however rigidity is not significantly reduced.
• Features: CD player/AUX/power steering, manual windows, spare battery
Conversion 2022:
• 1 berth that converts into a large table with benches. Very big bed – I am 6’7″ and was more comfortable than in ‘normal size’ beds
• Awning attachment mechanism installed. Well insulated walls.
• Side kitchen. Happy to provide 1 or 2 hob camping stove/fire extinguisher/vehicle emergency kit/electricity hook up cable/jumper leads.
• Domestic fridge that runs from the leisure battery.
• Leisure battery with split charge relay/mains hook-up. Plus spare car battery.
• Lots of space for storage – we had plenty of room over our 4 month period.
• Fresh water tank (~30L), grey water tank – operated mechanically via footpump. & sink with bronze tap.
• Adjustable LED lighting throughout. 2USB charging ports attached to leisure battery.
• Two sets of curtains are removable + cab blinds for privacy. Excellent two way multi-speed fan that runs from the leisure battery -> remove cooking smells or cool it down!
• Hard-wearing and easy to clean vinyl flooring. Lovely wooden panelling.
Condition Summary:
• Engine: 1997 banana engine. Sometimes a little squeaky.
• Conversion: mostly professional finish, well maintained since build
• Refurbished alternator and electrical charge system. 6 month old leisure battery. Can last around 5 days without running engine.
Very flexible with viewing times as we work from home.
