Meet Hattie, my much-loved VW Caddy Maxi camper; a gorgeous little home on wheels that has been thoughtfully converted by Secret Van Man and designed for simple, comfortable, independent adventures.

At just 4.8m long, she is incredibly easy to drive, park and manoeuvre, making her ideal if you want a camper without the size and hassle of a larger motorhome. She works equally well as an everyday vehicle, a weekend escape pod or a base for longer adventures.

✨ Professionally converted

Hattie was converted by Secret Van Man in September 2022, taking her from a working van to a beautifully finished mini camper.

The interior has the distinctive Secret Van Man bespoke colour scheme, with new flooring, a stylish kitchen unit and plenty of clever storage. She is fully insulated, cosy and practical, with everything you need for comfortable off-grid trips.

Her 100W solar panel, mounted on the roof rack, feeds through a Victron MPPT charge controller to the leisure battery.

This powers:

• 18L compressor fridge
• LED interior lighting
• USB charging points
• Other essential camper electrics

The electrical installation was professionally completed by an auto technician.

The roof rack also provides space for a kayak or paddleboard, making Hattie perfect for outdoor adventures.

Kitchen & living space

The clever kitchen provides approximately 1 metre of usable worktop, plus a handy drop-down shelf.

There is:

• Sink with hand-pump tap
• Two 10L water containers stored beneath the unit
• Good-sized pantry storage
• 18L compressor fridge
• Drop-down shelf on the barn door for a portable gas stove
• Excellent storage running the length of the sofa

The simple pull-out bed system transforms the living space into a comfortable 2-berth bed when it’s time to sleep.

It’s a wonderfully uncomplicated setup; everything has its place without feeling cramped.

She drives beautifully and is economical to run.

❤️ Why I’m selling her

Hattie has been a wonderful little companion and I have loved the freedom she gives you — just jump in, throw your paddleboard/kayak on the roof and head off.

She’s particularly lovely for someone who wants the freedom of a campervan without owning a huge vehicle.

She’s small enough for town and supermarket car parks, economical enough to use as a daily driver, but cleverly designed so that within minutes you have your own cosy little bedroom, kitchen and off-grid power.
