This van has been a proper home. I lived in it full time for a year, including a full winter – it’s a four season, off grid setup.
Being L3H3 it’s a big van with real standing room. I’m 6’2″ and have a few inches to spare. The bed is king size, a futon mattress that folds out onto pull-out slats, with a small openable window right at head height for fresh air through the night.
Please note, the Maxxair fan works fine via remote but the manual controls may need a new fuse. The hob needs a new stand. One drawer has been recently remade and just needs a lick of paint, and the wooden ceiling has been left unvarnished. All reflected in the price.
Insulation & soundproofing: Fully insulated and soundproofed with thick board on all walls, ceiling and floor, and plastic wool packed into every corner and gap. It feels really cosy to be in. Went over the whole interior for rust before building, any spots found were treated with Hammerite.
Heating: Diesel heater which warms the van up quickly. Kept me warm through winter.
Cooking & ventilation: Hob with openable window on the sliding door. Get the Maxxair fan extracting while you cook and the fumes go straight out.
Bed: King size futon on pull-out slats. Small openable side window at head height for airflow through the night.
Electrics: 350W solar (two panels) charging a 100Ah leisure battery – on a sunny day it’ll be full by mid-afternoon. DC-DC converter charges the leisure battery from the alternator while driving. Inverter for mains appliances. Leisure battery powers the diesel heater, 12v fridge, electric water pump, Maxxair fan, dimmable overhead lights, dimmable LED strip, reading light, and 2x USB ports by the bed.
Other: Reversing camera fitted.
The van is in good shape and has been serviced every year. Only issue I’ve had was the starter battery, which has been replaced – no problems since.
The van has a single bed at the back with a folded up futon. The bed slats are pulled out so that the futon unroll into a king size.
