Conversion Description

‘The Cumbrian’ Designed and craftsman-built in Cumbria, I had this van made for me, but due to a change in circumstances I’m now reluctantly selling it. It’s only been used a couple of times due to the lockdowns etc. It’s been into the garage for a range of work including new front brakes, replacement steering rack, injectors reset, DPF clean, new all weather tyres on rear, brake pipes replaced, new glow plugs – so it’s now in fine fettle! It’s a fair sized van, but so easy to drive and the reversing camera helps.

The design is bespoke, and features a high quality build with great attention to detail. Built to provide year-round comfort, the van is well insulated and uses a diesel heater to provide warmth on the coldest nights. Power is through 2 leisure batteries connected via a battery to battery charging system, and there are sockets fed via an external hook up for use where external power is available. 12v overhead spotlights are complemented by a double set of strip lights running full length on either side of the van. The light output can be adjusted and there’s a range of colours controlled by the remote. At the rear of the van are two USB charging ports, each with 4 outlets. A Sargent 160 control unit runs the electrics.

There are tinted windows in the sliding door and in the rear doors, allowing excellent visibility out. The rear door windows have removable insulated covers along with blinds. There’s a 50cm Fiamma roof vent complete with blackout blind.

The van has a kitchen area and a dining/seating area that converts quickly to form a comfortable, large bed that will easily allow a 6′ 2″ person to stretch out. In fact the bed is wide enough to allow 2 adults and a child to sleep in comfort, while the 6″ foam provides both support and softness, giving you a great nights sleep. There’s storage beneath the seats – accessible from the rear and from inside. Additional storage can be found in the slatted overhead lockers and in the kitchen cupboards and drawers. There are also a range of hooks, carefully placed to to allow you to hang your waterproofs, coats and clothes. Extra storage features include a magazine rack and a couple of mobile phone and book/map pockets along with a bespoke storage rack to the rear of the cab seats with hooks that I have used for hanging my shoes/boots.

The kitchen area features a Klarstein 45 litre fridge, a twin gas burner with grill and a sink supplied by a 25 litre water container, with a smaller waste tank. There are a couple of work surfaces, and the central table provides more work space if required, along with a comfortable dining area.

Here are the specifications:
– Overhead storage above cab, insulated and lined, ideal for bedding etc
– Detachable curtain pole with 2 curtains
– Roof fully insulated and finished with natural wood cladding
