rare Ashwoods Hybrid – a few 100 were made for Environment Agency and this former welfare van
Previous owner -Environment Agency
I converted it for utility camping so fully insulated, lined in lightweight plastic, lots of locking storage for equipment [used as mobile studio]
It has travelled across Europe including up into Norway so I have maintained mechanicals to highest standard – last MOT I replaced rear leaf and all bushes
Heavy duty suspension [front ball joints and wishbone arms – a frequent fail on Transits replaced completely recently ]
retained the warning lights and high viz rear to be more stealth but these can be removed
rot in the normal parts of the outer sill – but repaired otherwise in good shape

The hybrid is an assist [looking to replace the drive belt] and extends range to 530 miles about a 10% improvement – limited to 60 mph which I kept for fuel consumption – the hybrid registration means it is not emissions tested! although the engine is running very clean [see MOT]

400 watts solar + inverter 150 [also a 2,000 watt inverter that needs fixing] 200 amps battery, LED lights, lots of USB charging points. Mains port to internal plug

3rd passenger seat [belted] but not fitted

I bought and converted the vehicle for a base for filming, my priority was being lightweight, warm, economical and reliable hence its spartan decoration. The twin wheel RWD and heavy duty suspension has allowed me to off road on k roads

the high viz rear can be peeled off, I keep the utility look as it never raised any issues if I was parked up

I have spent 3 months away in it in Spain, and a month with another traveller and it was reasonable accommodation – 3 people for shorter periods
I’m selling because I. have replaced it with a larger Luton Transit for longer expeditions
