Why Quirky?
Flat Fees
- We charge one straightforward 21% commission, no hidden second fee or additional service charge. Once you add up competitors’ commission and service fee combinations, we sit around the middle of the market: not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either.
- Other platforms don’t always make their fees as easy to understand, using a mixture of booking fees, service fees and commission rates that can vary seasonally. This can make it difficult to see exactly how the total booking value is split between you and the rental platform.
Independence
- Unlike Goboony (merged with Yescapa), Camplify (ASX-listed and owner of PaulCamper, MyWay and Rent a Tent) and Indie Campers (a fleet operator that also runs a marketplace), Quirky Campers is independent and focused solely on peer-to-peer rentals. We’re also transitioning to an Employee Ownership Trust.
- That means the small team you speak to every day has a genuine say in the decisions we make and how we build the platform for our owners and hirers.
Controlled supply
- If you rent your campervan with us, we want you to be successful and stay with us for the long term. That’s why we carefully balance the number of new campervans we list with hirer demand in different areas of the UK. Put simply, we won’t list your campervan unless we believe there is enough demand for it to earn a sustainable income on our platform.
- Owners on Quirky Campers can earn up to £18,000 a year and receive 65% more bookings than the market average. So our 21% commission isn’t simply a cost — it supports a platform designed to generate more consistent, sustainable bookings.
A company that cares
- Every campervan is hand-picked and needs to be genuinely quirky — not generic or factory-fit. We also carry out thorough onboarding and safety checks, including checking relevant gas safety certification. It means getting listed can take a little longer than a quick sign-up elsewhere, but that process helps maintain the quality and safety of the Quirky Campers community.
- We’re highly rated by both owners and hirers, with Quirky Campers achieving leading ratings among campervan rental platforms on Trustpilot and Google
What earnings do you actually keep as an owner
Here’s the trick almost every platform plays, deliberately or not: they quote a commission percentage, then add a separate service fee on top, charged to your hirer, calculated a different way, and easy to miss when you’re comparing platforms side by side. Once you add it all up, the ‘cheap-looking’ platform and the ‘expensive-looking’ one often land in the same place.
| Platform | What they tell you upfront | What’s added on top | What you keep of the total booking value* | What about insurance costs | Charge commission for add-ons |
| Quirky Campers | 21% commission | Nothing extra, 21% is the whole story | 79% | Paid for by the owner externally (annual or daily policy) See more info here | No |
| Goboony | ~20.5% dynamic service fee | A separate fixed flat rate fee: • £40 / €40 for rentals up to 3 days.• £60 / €60 for rentals lasting 4 to 8 days.• £80 / €80 for rentals over 8 days. | ~71-75%* | If chosen, Gobooney Day Insurance deducts £13 to £20 per day from the owner | Unknown |
| Camplify (standard member) | 8-12% + VAT Commission | +12% booking fee (+VAT) + ~£25 service fee charged to the hirer | ~75-78%* | Paid for by the owner externally | Yes |
| Camplify (Camper Plus members only) | 6% + VAT Commission | +12% booking fee (+VAT) + ~£25 service fee charged to the hirer | ~79%* | Paid for by the owner externally | Yes |
| Indie Campers | “15% commission” (per third-party host guides, not published on their own site) | Separate insurance, vehicle prep and wear-and-tear charges, none shown as a percentage | Not possible to state precisely, their fee schedule sits behind a host login | Paid for by the owner externally | unknown |

What hire customers are actually looking at
It’s worth knowing what’s going on on the other side of the transaction, because it shapes why we do things the way we do.
When someone’s choosing where to hire a campervan from, they’re not comparing commission structures, but they are weighing up things that are direct consequences of them: how well-vetted the van looks, whether there’s a real person to speak to if something goes wrong, and whether the company feels trustworthy enough to hand over a deposit to. That’s reflected in results: we’re rated 4.5 by Trustpilot, and it’s a large part of why our occupancy runs higher than other agencies:

What people actually say (Trustpilot & Google)
Fee tables are one thing, but the plainest signal for anyone deciding who to trust is reviews. Here’s the real picture, pulled directly from each platform.
| Platform | Trustpilot rating | Trustpilot reviews | Google rating |
| Quirky Campers | 4.5 / 5 | 160 | 4.9 / 5 |
| Goboony | 4.0 / 5 | ~8,900 | 3.9 (100) |
| Camplify | 4.3 / 5 | ~13,270 | 1.6 (14) |
| Indie Campers | 3.7 / 5 | ~26,580 | 4.7 (73,000) |
Correct as of October 2026
Despite having a fraction of the reviews of the bigger platforms (which is unsurprising given we’re a smaller company and only set up TrustPilot account in 2025), we come out with the highest Trustpilot score of the four, and our Google rating sits at 4.9 (QC Headquarters). We’ll never match the big platforms on volume, and that’s by design. On quality, we lead.
