Full Time Van Lifers 

Hi – we are Laura, Jacqui & James of Brown Bird and Company.  We are professional campervan converters who also live full time in a campervan. We have over 6 years combined experience of living full time time in a campervan so know exactly what you need to have a cosy home on wheels. We keep things simple and highly functional which are built to last whilst also tapping into our previous design jobs to create beautiful campers. 

Collectively, we have spent over 4 years travelling around Europe off grid without the need for campsite for power. All our vans are built with the same spec of equipment as the one we live in so you know you will have a van built for ultimate off grid adventures. 

We have a workshop based near Thirsk in beautiful Yorkshire. We have now have a team of 6 and our large workshop enables us to work on 4-5 builds at a time. 

SULLY – VW Transporters

Our goal whilst designing and building a VW Long Wheel Base T6 was to break the mould with transporter conversions and introduce our signature style to a much smaller build, retain all the features of bigger campers and yet still have plenty of space to lounge around in, have plenty of storage and finished with beautifully crafted fixtures and fittings..

So we created a campervan with a large L-shaped curved sofa that converts quickly into a double bed, inside there is plenty of storage for bedding. Our Sully design has a large practical kitchen with our iconic live edge oak worktop that is only 20cm smaller than our medium and long campervan kitchens! So plenty of practical storage, a hob, sink, 30 ltr of fresh water and even a hidden drawer to maximise the space. She has a tri-fold pop-top so you can stand upright throughout the campervan. We took great care to create her oak ceiling replacing factory fit components with brass. She has handmade copper lights and down lights throughout which produce a lovely warm light.

The build also features a unique curved wall, you’ll often find carpet and down lights in pop-top builds we wanted Sully to feel exactly like our bigger models so we maximised the wall space and created a curved wall with a custom pattern carved into the wood that is also on the door cards too.

SCAFELL – MWB/LWB Vans without a Shower 

Scafell was our original Long Wheel Base campervan built in 2017. After extensive travel around Europe on our return we started our conversion business and began building several versions of the Scafell build. The layout works really well in both Medium and Long Wheel Base campervans. Achieving a balance of space, comfort, practical features and beautiful fixtures and finishes. It features a highly function L-shaped kitchen accros the bulkhead (with an escape hatch to the cab), a double fixed bed at the back (width or length ways to suit different heights) and bench seating for 4 in-between.

Having lived many years in campervans we understand how essential it is to create beautiful and practical spaces. The designs we create we would happily live in our selves. We love the original design so much having built three of our own campers to live in based on this layout.

SNOWDON – 4 Berth vans 

Our 4 berth campervan options are available in a couple of different layouts and very much depend on the size of the vehicle provided. Wider vehicles enable us to build two double size beds across the campervan. Narrower vehicles eg Mercedes Sprinters would involve pop-tops or extra bunks.

Our goal whilst designing and building a 4 berth was to ensure we had safe forward facing belted seats, large beds, space to move around in and a table area to sit 4 people comfortably.

Having lived many years in campervans we understand how essential it is to create beautiful and practical spaces. The designs we create we would happily live in our selves. Snowdon is no exception even though we do not have children we designed the space around children. Making sure their space was safe, cosy and easily accessible for both children and adults.

NEVIS – LWB vans with a Shower

We’ve had our signature layout without a shower for a couple of years now. We were always reluctant to use valuable space for a shower cubicle. Due to customer demand we decided to come up with a new layout that did not compromise on space and still retained our distinctive design style.

Our goal whilst designing and building a Long Wheel Base Campervan with a shower was to create a campervan where the shower disappeared. Our Nevis design achieves this by using the shower to separate the bed and living area. Adding bold colour, patterns and a full length mirror creates the illusion of a much bigger space.

Having lived many years in campervans we understand how essential it is to create beautiful and practical spaces. The designs we create we would happily live in our selves. We love the Nevis design so much we are building our next flagship camper to be similar to the Nevis build.
