What Are the Best Alternatives to Glastonbury?
That depends on which part of Glastonbury you love most.
For huge stages and classic festival atmosphere, try Isle of Wight Festival. If you love stumbling from music into comedy, theatre and something completely unexpected, Latitude is a strong contender.
Prefer independent music and mountain views? Head for Green Man. Want something wildly immersive? Boomtown creates an entire fictional city to explore.

Isle of Wight Festival

Where: Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight
If you’re searching for a large UK music festival with proper big-stage energy, the Isle of Wight Festival is a very good place to start.
It has some serious festival history behind it, but it’s far from stuck in the past. Expect huge stages, camping, big crowds and the kind of weekend that leaves your voice sounding suspiciously gravelly by Monday.
There’s also something pleasingly adventurous about starting your festival road trip with a ferry crossing.
If it’s the size, spectacle and atmosphere of Glastonbury you’ll miss most, this one deserves a spot near the top of your list.

Where: Donington Park, Leicestershire
Glastonbury with considerably more guitars?
Download is one of the UK’s biggest rock and metal festivals, taking over Donington Park for several days of riffs, camping and very enthusiastic headbanging.
Musically, it’s a different beast to Glastonbury. But if what you really want is a huge camping festival where thousands of people disappear into their own little world for a few days, Download delivers.
Campervan camping is available too, although you’ll need the correct live-in vehicle pass alongside your festival ticket.
Love Supreme
When: 2nd–4th July 2027
Where: Glynde Place, East Sussex
Looking for a slightly more laid-back Glastonbury alternative?
Love Supreme brings jazz, soul, funk, R&B and more to the Sussex countryside for a festival that knows how to have a very good time without feeling completely frantic.
Alongside the music you’ll find food, wellness experiences, family activities and plenty of green space for taking five when your dancing feet demand it.
Camping and live-in vehicle options make it a particularly tempting choice for a summer campervan trip.
Latitude Festival
When: 22nd–25th July 2027
Where: Henham Park, Suffolk
Can’t decide whether you want a music festival, comedy festival, theatre festival or arts festival?
Latitude says you don’t have to.
Set among woodland, parkland and a lake at Henham Park, the festival combines live music with comedy, poetry, theatre, literature, science, family activities and wellness.
It’s an especially good Glastonbury alternative if you love the joy of wandering around with absolutely no idea what you’re going to discover next.
Green Man Festival
When: 19th–22nd August 2027
Where: Near Crickhowell, Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, Wales
Mountains behind the main stage. Independent music. Plenty to explore. Very good Welsh scenery.
Green Man has quite the recipe.
Held near Crickhowell in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, it brings together music, arts and festival wandering in one ridiculously lovely setting.
It’s smaller than Glastonbury, which is part of the charm. You still get that feeling of disappearing into a different world for the weekend, just with a little less ground to cover.
Kendal Calling
When: 29th July–1st August 2027
Where: Lowther Deer Park, Lake District
A music festival in the Lake District?

Kendal Calling transforms Lowther Deer Park into a colourful world of stages, hidden corners and general summer mischief for one long weekend.
There’s plenty beyond the music to explore, and the Lake District location makes extending your festival stay into a proper road trip very tempting.
Live-in vehicle camping is available, although campervan and motorhome pitches require separate passes and can sell out.
Deer Shed Festival
When: 23rd–25th July 2027
Where: Baldersby Park, Topcliffe, North Yorkshire
For a family-friendly festival that grown-ups can properly enjoy too, Deer Shed is a cracking choice.
Set in an 18th-century landscaped park in North Yorkshire, it blends live music with comedy, arts, ideas and all manner of creative goings-on.
Families are very welcome, but this isn’t simply a children’s festival with a few bands bolted on. The programme is designed for all ages, making it one of the best Glastonbury alternatives for families.
There are live-in vehicle pitches too.
Boomtown
When: 11th–15th August 2027
Where: Hampshire
If your favourite part of Glastonbury is wandering around with absolutely no idea what you’ll stumble across next, Boomtown could be your festival soulmate.
Calling it a music festival doesn’t really cover it. Boomtown creates an entire fictional city filled with themed districts, stages, characters, sets and stories.
One minute you’re watching a band. The next you’re following a character down a side street wondering how your evening took this particular turn.
It’s big, theatrical and unapologetically immersive.
Campervan options are available, with dedicated live-in vehicle passes required.
Shambala Festival
When: 26th–29th August 2027
Where: Kelmarsh Hall and Gardens, Northamptonshire
Colourful, creative, independent and proudly doing things its own way, Shambala is a brilliant choice for anyone drawn to the greener, more eccentric side of festival life.
Sustainability is woven into the event, with a strong focus on renewable energy, reducing waste and lowering the festival’s environmental impact.
But don’t mistake worthy for quiet.
Shambala is still a proper party, filled with music, costumes, creativity and the sort of unexpected adventures every good festival needs.
Beautiful Days
When: 20th–22nd August 2027
Where: Escot Park, Devon
Beautiful Days is an independent family music festival founded by Levellers and held at Escot Park in Devon.
Alongside the live music, expect children’s entertainment, walkabout theatre, wellbeing, site art, food, crafts and plenty more to explore between sets.
It feels colourful, friendly and proudly independent — a lovely option for families, mixed-age groups or anyone after a smaller UK festival with a bit more breathing room.
Creamfields
When: 26th–29th August 2027
Where: Daresbury, Cheshire
If the electronic corners of Glastonbury are where you spend most of your weekend, Creamfields is the obvious direction to point your dancing shoes.
The festival returns to Daresbury, Cheshire over the August Bank Holiday weekend, bringing together huge stages and some of the biggest names in electronic music.
Expect enormous production, late nights and plenty of lasers.
Less folk music and chai. Considerably more bass.
Green Gathering
When: 29th July–1st August 2027
Where: Chepstow
Fancy going smaller, greener and gloriously off-grid?
Green Gathering brings together live music, spoken word, workshops, crafts and low-impact living over four days.
