Vehicle Description

After 2 years of incredible adventures across Europe, it’s time for us to pass on our baby to fulfill someone else’s Van Life Dream. Our beautiful home on wheels took us smoothly across 30+ countries for the trip of a lifetime….and now it’s your turn!

Volkswagen Crafter CR35 TDI, Medium Wheel Base in Reflex Silver. This is the higher spec Crafter with a 6 speed manual gearbox and 135BHP, making it a great vehicle to drive on longer trips (it sounds strange but it drives like a car, really comfortable and a great seating position). The vehicle also has a reversing camera mounted within the rear brake light and a 7โ€ LCD screen visible where the rear view mirror would be.

The van only has 3 previous owners, full service history and only 85,600 miles. Fresh MOT until Apr-2025.

This is a clean vehicle with two tinted privacy windows professionally installed. One is a fixed window (on the passenger side slide door), and the other on the driverโ€™s side can be opened for fresh air.

Had a comprehensive service done in Feb 2024 so is ready for it’s next adventure. Some bigger items replaced include:
– 2 new rear all season tires and front tires @ 84% tread.
– New hand brake.
– New rear and front brake disks including brake pads.

Conversion Description

Overview:
The van is perfect for off-grid van life – it’s super cosy, has great cooking facilities, ample storage and solar panels to keep you powered up. We only stayed at campsites a handful of times when we needed to do washing. The van has a high internal ceiling – my husband is 6โ€ฒ 1โ€ณ and can stand without his head touching the ceiling which makes cooking and just generally living in it really comfortable and easy. The van is a perfect balance between big enough to have some space and home comforts, but not too big making driving dificult and limiting parking. It is just under 6m long meaning it fits in to a lot of carparks, and kind of looks like a plumbers van, so isn’t always that obvious its a camper. We did plenty of stealth camping without any issues.

The van has been built with bespoke shaker style cabinets, painted in Silver Thistle Down. There are 5 overhead cupboards along the driver side of the vehicle, with an additional storage cupboard above the driver & passenger seats. The van benefits from a solid pine table that creates a great living space when in use. This can be stowed away. The passengar and middle seat has an R&J Camper Solutions open top double swivel base fitted, which is crash rated. This enables the double seat to be turned around toward the inside of the van so you can sit at the table. There are two privacy glass side windows which have been professionally fitted. The window on the driverโ€™s side can be opened to improve air circulation; these are fitted with black-out curtains.

The kitchen features a real Beech worktop, cutlery drawer and large pan drawer on soft-close drawer sliders. This van has been converted with the following features:

Kitchen:
Thetford Triplex 700 series oven, grill and 3 burner hob with lid shut-off
Dometic CRX50 Compressor refrigerator, with both fridge and freezer components
Sink with foldable cold water tap
Fiamma Turbo-Vent Premium ceiling fan that can extract air out of the van, or send fresh air inside.
25L fresh water and 25L grey water tanks, accessible from inside the van
There is a butane Calor Gas bottle and safe located in the rear of the van.
There is a solid pine table that can be used from both the swivel seats and bench/ daybed, creating a great living space

Electronics:
330AH of leisure batteries; 3 x 110AH Xtreme AGM Leisure Batteries (XR1750)
LG 365W Mono Neon2 N5 Solar Panel
Victron Energy Orion-tr Smart DC-DC 30A Charger (isolated). This enables the leisure batteries to be topped up by the vehicleโ€™s alternator when driving.
Victon Smart Solar MPPT 100/30 Charge Controller. This converts the solar energy into 12V, charging up the leisure batteries.
Each of these Victron devices enable battery charge and performance to be monitored on your phone
Krieger 1500 12 to 230v inverter, fitted to 2 x stainless steel folding household plug sockets
2 x 12v USB charging ports
12v 5KW Diesel Heater installed under the passenger seat, with a hot air vent directed towards the living space. This is plumbed into the vanโ€™s fuel tank, removing the need for a separate fuel cell within the van
8 LED downlights providing warm lighting, with individual switches to help set the mood
3 LED spotlights that can be swivelled for reading lights
Switch panel to operate the ceiling lights, fridge, heater etc.
12v fuse board, with suitable breakers for the various electric components

Insulation:
The floor, walls, ceiling and doors of the van have been covered in DoDo Mat Hex sound deadening sheets to improve sound-insulation and reduce vibration noises when driving. This works very well.
The floor is insulated with 25mm Kingspan foam insulation board, with a seamless vapour barrier, before a 12mm plywood floor was installed. Laminate flooring has been laid on-top of the plywood sub-floor.
The rear doors and ceiling have also been covered in 25mm Kingspan foam insulation board, with a Thermawrap Insulation foil vapour barrier.
All cavities in the van have been insulated with recycled insulation, and also wrapped in a layer of Thermawrap Insulation to provide a vapour barrier.

Toilet:
We bought a Thetford Porta Potti 165 which we used and stored under the daybed/seat. It has a high seat and a push pump which was great and made it feel like as much of a normal toilet as possible. Happy to leave the toilet in the van if you would like.

Occassionaly in very heavy rain and if the wind is blowing a certain direction, a little bit of water dribbles down the side of the right back door. Our mechanic couldn’t find any issues, but it’s possible the back door needs a new seal.

We have some videos of the inside and the electrics in the back if you are interested. Please get in contact if you have any questions, or would like to view the van โ€“ we are thinking of having viewings the weekend of May 4/5th. Thanks

Beds Description

The van has a fixed double bed made from a bespoke memory foam mattress in a thick anthracite upholstery. The bed is approx 180cm long by 140cm wide. My husband is 185cm and slept comfortably.

Thereโ€™s a pull-out daybed with a bespoke memory foam pad and geodesic upholstery. This daybed can be stowed away during transit, locked into a seating position, or secured as a full-length daybed. This can be used as an additional sleeping area for a child as the bench is 170cm long x 60cm wide.
Thereโ€™s a large storage space inside the daybed for larger items, accessible from the rear or inside of the van.
