Detailed Information
Vehicle Description

Douglas is a great camper with a solid season of commercial hires behind him. But he needs his engine looking at and has an intermittent fault that stops the central locking from working. He needs someone who can get him back on the road.

Note: He is currently parked at a garage in the N2 postal area, and cannot be driven. He will need transporting from this location. Viewings can be arranged at limited times. I bought him here for £17.5k and am open to offers.

Engine Issue
Engine stopped on the motorway, and he was recovered to a garage in North London. They partially dismantled the engine, identifying low compression in one cylinder, suspecting valve damage. The head has not been removed and the timing has not been checked. They have recommended a reconditioned engine at a cost of circa £1500. Someone who knows what they are doing (we do not!) may be able to fix this cheaper.

2.4l turbo engine, extra-long wheelbase.
6 gears
MOT & Full service completed Nov 2021
2 brand new vehicle batteries
2 keys
Couple of minor dents, surface scratches in bodywork and the usual spots of rust.
Additional side and rear deadlocks for added security
Reversing camera
Full history of all work done over the last two years

Conversion Description

Douglas needs a new owner. I am moving and there is no longer space for him in my life. He comes with a successful first season on Quirly campers with a summer filled with happy hires. This means he also comes with everything you need to rent him out straight away – from the detailed handbook to the plates and mugs!

I did not build Douglas, but I have really enjoyed every part of this build and the personal touches of the previous owner and a few of my own! For what is effectively a very small space it feels open and spacious throughout. The flooring is a very easy to clean, thick vinyl roll that means that muddy boots after long hikes won’t spoil the cleanliness. Douglas is fully insulated and has a complete vapour barrier meaning she stays warm, cosy and dry. He has a Diesel parking heater installed with its own diesel tank (this thing is AMAZING!!!), comes with remote control for those mornings where getting out of bed isn’t an option until it’s safe and warm.

I have made additions to make him suitable for remote working as well as a good holiday touring van for adventures. The turbo makes even the steepest of hills effortless despite having a full payload in the back. He runs smooth until about 70 when you start to feel a slight shake, starts clean every time, no knocks, whistles or screeches to speak of. He does 550-600 miles on a full tank of diesel.

Pull out table made from recycled pallet wood and an additional table for working and longer dinner parties.
2 overhead lights on dimmers with the heat outlet right next to your legs for those cold nights.

Bedroom
As you can see the bed goes width ways and includes “bump outs” at either end. Custom made Gel Foam mattress that is the perfect height with made to measure sheets.
Overhead wardrobe with 2 sides and 2 shelves per side. This perfectly suits the amount of clothes we needed for all weathers as a couple and it’s nice to each have your own side.

Bathroom
We have a simple portable loo that slides under the benches and works perfectly.

Ready to hire
– full user handbook, standard emails and info for you to hire him out
– plates, pans and other basics so you don’t need to do anything to get him paying for his keep.

Garage
This is where the nervous system lives, all of the electric, water and gas systems are here, whilst leaving tons of room for whatever you could want to bring along. We include two very comfy camping chairs and a table, levelling blocks etc. All come with the van.

Mechanical Inventory
The owner before last did not have a service history included, but I have receipts from the last owner and from all the work we have had done this year. He has just passed his MOT with clean bill of health after a few bits of work. He has new Starter & Aux batteries.
