Dream Van: Spacious yet Cosy, Off Grid

Architect designed custom build by quirky approved converter Flatcap Conversions.

Beautiful conversion, completed in April 2024. Spacious and filled with sunlight, with a very warm, cosy, earthy vibe. This van has been our home away from home all around Europe and we are very sad to see her go!!!

Best of both worlds with the coveted MWB wheelbase – the van is 5.4m long so fits in a standard car park, but very spacious within. Very comfortable fixed double bed (1.35m x 1.88m). Room to sit upright on bed and full standing height in kitchen area. Clever layout with two pullout tables and flexible seating options. Seats can form a small sofa + seat or 3x seats or 1x long bench / bed for a 3rd adult or child (520mm x 1.8m)

We lived in her comfortably with 2 people, but had ‘picnics’ with 5 adults comfortably inside (3 on the seats, 2 on the bed!).

VENTILATION
Openable skylight (Mini Heki S) with integrated blinds and fly screen + Dometic roof vent with transparent fan and automatic rain sensor. This is an awesome combo for secure airflow while sleeping. Couldn’t have done without these in Europe!

WARMTH
Fully insulated van with JP space and water heater for colder days. (Truma Combi D6E equivalent, runs on electric or diesel or both)

DAYLIGHT + PRIVACY
– Left side door and rear doors have fixed windows + full length sheer curtains + clip on blackout blind attachments for privacy day & night.
– Cab opening (able to be climbed through in an emergency!) and right side openable window have blackout curtains.


STORAGE
– Under bed “garage” with non slip rubber floor and heaps of space.
– 5x soft close overhead cabinets
– 1x over cab storage area
– 1x big box pullout under the bed
– 1 x seat with lift up lid to storage
– 1x seat with 2x pull out drawers
– 1x “holds everything” kitchen drawer
– 1x pull out kitchen unit with shelves and extra bench space (+ bonus hidden storage!)


KITCHEN
We opted for a Campingaz 2x 2000W burner stove so we could cook indoors or out (on kitchen pullout) + 1x Bluet Micro Plus single burner for quick kettle boiling! Both use the Campingaz Easyclic CV470 bottles which are easy to pick up from decathlons across the continent. Also included in the sale is a two burner electric hob which wasn’t installed – so you can add this if you wish!

– 75L Fridge with freezer compartment (ice for drinks was a definite plus!!!)
– 70L water tank with external fill point + electric pump and filter system + water level meter.
– Stunning butlers sink (480x370x130mm) with beautiful brass tapware (hot + cold)
– Terracotta tile splash back.
– Kitchenware included – pot, pan, kettle, plates, bowls, cutlery, grater, cups, containers etc.
– Seat cushions with custom Morrocan upholstery made to match the tiles.

BEDROOM
– Warm dimmable mood lighting
– 200mm foam mattress, very comfortable.
– Storage shelves and nook, light switches and charging points all in easy reach.
– Extremely comfortable feather down bedding + linen ware included in sale (3x pillows plus 10T duvet and sheets)


BATHROOM
– Thetford PortaPotti 145 slides out from beneath a seat (easy to use in the night!)
– 1x shower hose that hooks up to the hot / cold water from the basin
– 1x brass framed mirror

ELECTRICS
– 1x 175W Solar panel + MPPT solar charge controller which powers fridge, ventilation fan, 2x dimmable 12V down lights and 3x dimmable LED strip lights, plus 4x USB PowerPoints (2x type A and 2x type C).
– Split charge relay system installed so batteries also charge while driving.
– 240V mains hook-up. Charges the battery and powers 1x UK double power socket (laptops + appliances)
– 2x high-quality deep cycle AGM 130Amp leisure batteries
– LED display voltmeter, fuses and switch’s in the garage under the bed.

Really great set up – we only used main power for charging our laptop and were off grid the rest of the time – never any problems with power.
