‘Howie’ as he is affectionately known is a 2016 LWB VW Crafter. A passion project/obsession by a family of 4 to create the best possible off grid camper for their needs.
Bought in Feb 2020 (just before anyone had heard of Covid) and professionally converted by the wonderful team at DB Campers, he was designed to comfortably house parents, teenage daughter and toddler while exploring Scotland for the last 4 years.
Our family is now relocating to Spain – so it’s time for Howie to fly the nest and make someone else happy.
A lot of research (Pinterest, Instagram, here on quirky campers and #vanlife) resulted in what you see here:
4 belted seats were a must (the foldaway Agutti seat is also isofix), full bathroom with hot shower, best heating/boiler (‘cos it’s Scotland!) and a seating area that was big enough/adaptable enough for us all to sit down for a meal/cards/movie if it was lashing it down outside! (Also a microwave for toddlers milk and lazy ready meals after a day of hiking/exploring!)
Sleeps 5 (if you’re friendly): fixed double with skylight, bunk for child, and clever pull out double bed from sitting area.
Low mileage, Fiamma awning, external LPG filling valve and she comes as a going concern with all the gear: from outdoor table and folding chairs, through handheld Dyson vacuum to cutlery, crockery, collapsible pans and linen!
