Camp Quirky FAQs

Camp Quirky is the greenest handmade campervan festival in the UK.
Run by active members of the community for the community, some may describe it as an off-grid festival extravaganza that embodies the best and realest parts of vanlife.
From workshops on how to convert/upgrade your campervan to gathering around a campfire for a singalong under the stars – trust us when we say, you don’t want to miss it!
Our next event will be taking place 28th April to 1st May 2023 at Kelmarsh, Northamptonshire.
You can camp from 10am on Friday 28th April to 12pm on Monday 1st May. If you are lucky enough to get your hands on an early arrival ticket, you will be welcome to join us from 2pm on Thursday 27th April. Gates will close at 9pm each night.
There will be a live music programme full of fantastic acts on Friday 28th, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th. We will have workshop/talk areas programmed back-to-back with diverse content covering van conversions, vanlife, DVUK, sustainable living and crafts. There is a kids area with organised activities throughout the weekend.
The full Camp Quirky schedule will be published on our website once finalised.
Please note, some activities/therapies within the wellness & crafts villages do carry an additional charge.
We want to make Camp Quirky accessible to all. Low-Income tickets are available to those who have proof of unemployment or proof of receiving benefits such as Universal Credit.
Yes! Children are the explorers of the future and the ones who are going to carry the torch of vanlife and sustainable living for years to come. It’s a very intimate festival where it is easy to keep an eye on your kids. Nothing will be too loud and the music will all be finished by 1am. In addition, we will provide a kids area with lots of scheduled activities for children of all ages.
Absolutely it is! We welcome festival goers with accessibility requirements. The site is pretty flat and should be suitable for wheelchairs though please bear in mind it is a grass field and not tarmac. There will be a designated accessible camping area with accessible toilets. The shower area will also have a designated accessible shower. There are no steps up to any of the festival areas.
Require a carer’s ticket? Please get in touch by emailing campquirky@quirkycampers.co.uk if you have any specific needs and we will do our best to accommodate them.
Yes you can! Volunteering is a great way to attend the festival, help with the smooth running of the event & it’s really fun, too! The deal is three 4-hour shifts in exchange for your ticket & camping. If you would like to volunteer at Camp Quirky, please click the button below:
Nope! Volunteers receive free entry into Camp Quirky. Although each volunteer will be required to pay a £30 deposit which will be refunded after the festival (subject to T&Cs).
Tickets sold out super quick for our last event so we recommend purchasing your tickets as soon as possible. However, we know life sometimes can’t be planned too far in advance so we may well have some returned tickets available on the door. Please let us know when you arrive if you need extra tickets and we will do our best to get you in!
We will not be selling day passes for Camp Quirky 2023. We tried it before in previous Camp Quirkys, but we found that it negatively impacted on the sense of community and the people who came only for the day got less out of the event. We want to focus even more on building a sense of community and on creating the most awesome weekend possible.
Some of the people asking this question are used to attending ‘shows’ rather than ‘festivals’. Shows tend to have much less infrastructure and entertainment and significantly more traders and sponsors. We carefully select our traders to ensure they fit well with the festival and their values align with ours. Plus we have a full music programme, more than 70 talks and workshops, a wellness and crafts village and much more!
Of the ticket price you pay, 20% goes directly to the VAT man. The remaining covers the cost of the site, tents, staff, security, musicians, toilets and showers, power, sound system, design and publicity, decor, crew food, office administration and so on.
For all adult ticket holders there is also a £5 non refundable booking fee.
Yes! We understand that not everyone has the option to purchase a ticket outright. To make Camp Quirky tickets more accessible to all, we have added the option for you to pay for your tickets in 2 instalments. Please bear in mind that you will be required to pay an instalment of 50% at checkout, with the remainder due by 01/02/2023.
No, your second instalment payment is not taken automatically and must be paid for by logging into your Dashboard > Order History, or by following the link in your email.
Whether you plan to join us in a campervan, caravan, tent or even your car, we will have a spot for you.
Yes – every camper is welcome. There will be lots of amazing finished and part-finished campervans for you to peruse and be inspired by over the weekend.
Absolutely! Your car and caravan will be pitched together but as your setup will be more than 7m in length, please tick ‘oversized vehicle’ at time of ticket purchase so that we can accommodate you.
Yup, you can come! Just like with a caravan, please tick ‘oversized vehicle’ at time of ticket purchase so that we can accommodate you.
Of course! You don’t have to be on wheels to join us. We have designated areas for tents. If you are travelling to the festival by car, there is a free car park separate to the tent camping area.
If you plan to sleep in a tent, you will need to purchase a tent pass.
You’re absolutely welcome to do this. We understand that a car is much smaller than a campervan, however, as you will be using a campsite pitch, you will be required to purchase a tent pass.
Do you have accommodation options on site?
We absolutely do! There will be an awesome selection of Quirky Campers available for you to book as your accommodation for the weekend. If this is something you’d like to do, get in touch at bookings@quirkycampers.co.uk.
Absolutely! Quirky Campers love dogs and we recognise that they go hand in hand with vanlife. There is a designated dog walking field for off-lead walkies. For safety reasons, we do ask that all dogs are kept on leads throughout the event.
We welcome responsible dog owners with well-behaved four-legged friends. Please take time to read our dog policy in the T&Cs.
There will be 10 shower cubicles which will be operating in timetabled hours due to all site electrics running from solar. Opening times will be displayed by the showers.
We are delighted that Camp Quirky will be a diesel generator free event! All of our power will be provided by solar arrays. Strictly no petrol/diesel generators on site.
There will be no hook-up; the event is taking place on a beautiful and wild festival site, not a campsite.
There will be multiple freshwater points dotted throughout the site.
There will be a variety of world cuisines freshly prepared by our on-site food traders over the course of the weekend.
Don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of options available, including vegan and gluten-free.
There will be no disposables on site so please bring a coffee cup for your morning pick me up from our amazing coffee vans. All food will be served with compostable plates/cutlery etc. but if you want to bring your own that’s even better.
Food and drink is priced affordably – please support our traders by buying their delicious fare.
Our fully licensed bar will be serving a selection of local ales, cider and lager. There will also be spirits and cocktails available. We will operate a deposit scheme for our reusable Camp Quirky cup so please bring a pound!
Like any festival, we ask attendees to expect little to no internet connection or service. We promise that you’ll be so entertained, you won’t even realise!
In a word, YES. There will be no cashpoint on site and while some traders may accept cards, others will not. Your best bet is to stop at a cashpoint en route to ensure you have enough change in your pocket for food, drink and any other lovely bits you may want to pick up.
You are permitted to bring your own alcohol but please do support the reasonably priced bar which helps to fund the festival. No glass bottles are allowed on site. You are welcome to use whatever receptacles you like inside your camper but please be mindful that any glass needs to stay in there.
Yes, of course! We want you to enjoy your time at Camp Quirky – whether that’s in the main arena, visiting other vans or relaxing at your own. Please just bear in mind, if your awning exceeds the size of a 2 man tent, you will be required to purchase a tent pass.
Fires will be allowed if they are off the ground, e.g. BBQ or firepit and at least 3m from any vehicle or tent. Strictly no fires on the ground. Any fires deemed unsafe by the campsite fire brigade will be extinguished.
There will be fire points in the main arena. If you discover a fire please alert a steward immediately.
There will only be 1 official insured drone filming the festival. If anyone is caught using a drone without permission they will be ejected from the festival by the security staff.
